I told Joey Pants this morning about Molly Schuyler of Nebraska who broke a record set by Joey Chestnut for eating a 4.5 pound steak, baked potato, shrimp, side salad AND a roll, in 4 minutes, 58 seconds at the Big Texan on Route 66 in Amarillo, TX, this past weekend.  She was still hungry, so she put away ANOTHER 4.5 pound steak and all the sides.  That feat took a little longer:  9 minutes, 59 seconds.

Schuyler, who is 5'7" and weighs 125 pounds, is a 'competitive eater' for sport and cash.  This past January in Philadelphia, she scarfed 363 chicken wings in 30 minutes.  At least that one scored her $22,000!  Best I can tell, she simply earned bragging rights to go with her $144 steak dinners (free if you can finish in an hour!) at the Big Texan last weekend.

Joey Pants was not happy with me for not showing him the video of Schuyler tearing into the steak.  He seemed more 'enthused' about it than I would have imagined.  I asked some of the other guys around the radio station if they found the primal cave-woman approach to beef a turn-on. Mostly, they said, 'No'.  What do you think?

Thank you, Tim Hoffman, for sharing the video with Joey! Tim says that taking a shot at the free 72 ounce steak is on his bucket list and plans to give it a shot sometime when he and his wife take the grandkids on a road-trip.  Here are your rules, should you choose to face the challenge.  Note rule #6.  Mmmmmm.
