I had a chance to DJ an event today that I attended myself 28 years ago; the Police and Fire Field Day Safety Patrol Picnic 2015. Today was the day that dozens of 5th graders congregated at Hawk Island County Park to celebrate after a school year of working hard to help keep themselves and fellow students safe on the sidewalks. Students from schools all across Mid-Michigan enjoyed the tunes, some food and drink, a bouncing inflatable, and much more. Representatives from numerous public safety agencies, including Lansing Fire; Lansing, East Lansing, MSU, and Meridian Police, F.B.I., Michigan State Police, Ingham and Clinton County Sheriff brought out their big machinery for the kids to check out. And a bit of friendly rivalry was even present for a good cause as the University of Michigan Survival Flight chopper showed up, along with Sparty! Check out Sparty pumping up the safety patrollers!

Frank Lara from Lansing's Willow Elementary is the 2015 Safety Patroller of the Year.

Sparty and Meridian Police Chief David Hall award Frank Lara the 2015 Safety Patroller of the Year Award.
