Well, it's that time of year again!! The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has pissed off hardcore rock and roll fans once again by releasing the list of nominees for the 2017 class of inductees. And, you know damn well, some geniuses continue to force hip-hop and disco artists into the throat of the rock and roll genre. Boy, did they top themselves this time!!

First let's begin with the list of nineteen nominees: Bad Brains, Chaka Khan, Chic, Depeche Mode, Electric Light Orchestra, The J. Geils Band, Jane's Addiction, Janet Jackson, Joan Baez, Joe Tex, Journey, Kraftwerk, MC5, Pearl Jam, Steppenwolf, The Cars, The Zombies, Tupac Shakur, and Yes.

Yeah, you read that right...the Hall has decided to tug at the heart strings of the hip-hop world by posthumously nominating an artist in Tupac who is most well-known for his involvement in gang related incidents and his back and forth shoot out with another dead rapper named Biggie Smalls, Notorious B.I.G., or whatever name was cool enough for the week back in the 1990's. A rapper whose murder is still talked about in social media circles like a hero-laden story from the old west, infused with conspiracy theories of 9/11 proportions. A rapper who name does not emulate with the common non-follower of hip-hop. "But...but...'Dear Mama'!"

Then, another nod is given for a freaking disco group. FREAKING DISCO!!! Isn't disco the absolute antithesis of Rock and Roll? What the hell is Chic doing up for nomination? Did they have another song besides "Le Freak"?

Then, I see groups like MC5, J. Geils Band, and Journey whose ties to success directly run through Detroit!! That just gets me back on to me soapbox about what a freaking joke it is that this Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is located anywhere but Motown, let alone Cleveland, of all places!! MC5, of course, is from Detroit. J. Geils Band hailed from Boston, but broke through into success due to a strong following in Detroit. Journey, same story as J. Geils, but from San Francisco! I haven't heard Steve Perry write any lyrics about freaking Cleveland!! That's left up to hometown slap-dicks like Michael Stanley and Drew Carey!

I could also go on about the Euro-synth pop $#!t on this nomination list...but, at least it's not damn disco!! So, without further adieu, here is your link to vote for your top five nominees. I have gone with ELO, J. Geils, The Cars, Journey, and Pearl Jam, sadly leaving MC5, Steppenwolf, and the Zombies for future ballots...but omitting Yes by complete design. Jon Anderson and Steve Howe could only wish to have the knack and talents of Jeff Lynne and Roy Wood!
