Born and raised in the shadows of Michigan State University, it’s funny that one can grow up an avid Wolverine Fan. But, that’s exactly what happened!! At the ripe age of 5, everyone knew my obsession for sports, specifically Michigan Football, was something of abnormal proportions. Dateline November 20, 1982…Michigan turns the ball over 6 times in Columbus (looks more like a toilet bowl than a horseshoe…) as Ohio State beats Michigan 24-14. I distinctly remember the jubilation as Steve Smith’s 3rd quarter touchdown tied the big game. That belly-fire quickly turned sour when Anthony Cater lost a fumble for Michigan. I never saw Tim Spencer’s go-ahead score for The Hairless Nuts…I had already been sent to my room for throwing the mother of temper tantrums!!! It was the first of many…and, yes, I’ve had quite a few over the last five seasons. (Fewer tears, though…give a guy some credit!!) The bright side of so many “in-the-room hours” was having all of that solo time to develop my other obsession…music; specifically, Rock & Roll. 8-tracks and albums nearly over-populated my Hot Wheels. A fine pair of Stanton headphones helped to maximize my musical explorations. I grew up listening and loving the likes of Tom Petty, The Eagles, Bob Seger, The Rockets…speaking of Motor City Rock!! There were COUNTLESS others as well. While the other ‘80’s youth were listening to over-produced synth crap, I was discovering the ass-kicking likes of Motley Crue, Aerosmith, Van Halen, and Def Leppard…though none of it ever outweighed my fascination for my two all-time faves…Queen and Billy Joel. I learned the term Disco Sucks at a young age…and I feel the same way about the pop/cookie-cutter rock/hip-hop garbage today’s kids have the misfortune of being exposed to. So, now that you’ve been brought behind the curtain of my soapboxes, I love rockin’ with my home town every afternoon. I’m a Lansing-lifer!! I’m also an avid Detroit Tigers fan and NASCAR junkie…14!! And, a pet lover, with my trust-worthy canine companion Maggie (A Capital Area Humane Society adoptee!!!) and more cats than one person should ever think of taking in!! Like most Gen-exers, I thoroughly enjoy spending time with my PlayStation. If a great playlist and Miller Lite are thrown into the mix…even better!! I’m certainly not a stranger to the local social scene…so if you see me out and about stop me and say “Hi!.” I will gladly let you buy me a beer!!
