The Grand Rapids based Bissell Pet Foundation is planning its next "Empty The Shelters" event for this Saturday, May 5.

Numerous shelters in Michigan and across the country are participating in this free adoption drive, including Capital Area Humane Society and Ingham County Animal Shelter.  Not only is the mission of the drive to find new homes for animals currently housed in shelters, but to free space in these shelters for other homeless animals looking for a forever home.

Though adoption fees are covered by Bissell Pet Foundation, there will be required licensing fees assessed at the Lansing Area shelters. New families will also receive an AdoptBox with food, treats, toys, and coupons to help make your new family member welcome at his or her new home.
