UPDATE: Burning Ban Issued Across Northern Michigan

MLive.com reports some clarity for those in Northern Michigan regarding the dangerous fire situation. According to their Tuesday report, burn permits will not be issued, but, campfires and fireworks are not completely banned in the counties in the Northern Lower Peninsula under a Red Flag Warning. However, extreme caution is urged for anybody who lights a bonfire due to warm temperatures, low humidity and gusty winds.

Original post: According to MLive.com, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources has banned all outdoor burning for most of Northern Michigan. The ban comes on the heels of a United States Forest Service warning citing a very high fire risk due to weather conditions. The National Weather Service in Gaylord has also issued a Red Flag Warning for numerous counties in the Northern Lower Peninsula until Tuesday at 8:00pm.

Outdoor burn permits will not be issued in affected counties, according to the DNR. The counties of Muskegon, Newaygo, Mecosta, Isabella, Midland, and Bay northward are affected.
