If you've been contemplating a four-legged family addition, this may be a great time to act on those thoughts. WLNS.com is reporting that the Bissell Pet Foundation is springing for the adoption fees for more than 2,000 pets at dozens of shelters across the state. "Empty the Shelters Day" is set for April 29. There are a few shelters in Mid-Michigan participating in the special day.

Another report from MLive.com explains that potential adopters will be responsible for local licensing fees. But, that cost is dramatically lower than the covered adoption fees that Bissell Pet Foundation will pay for.

Last October, the foundation helped more than 1,900 pets find new homes in a single day...a record in Michigan.
