My friend Aaron Putnam, a Haslett native who works here and in Chicago, is hosting a comedy show Saturday night at the Robin Theatre in Lansing's REO Town, 1105 S. Washington Ave. The show headliners are Cleveland native Mary Santora and Chicago's Reena Calm;  Lansing's Tricia Chamberlain will be a special guest performer.

Need more incentive to do something different than the same thing you do every Saturday night? Laughter is scientifically proven to lower your blood pressure, reduce stress hormones, boost your immunity and release your 'feel-good' endorphins. They say that laughing is also good for your heart.

Aaron is also very open about his recovery from addiction, which he uses as part of his comedy act.

A Rehab Clinical Director was in the audience during one of his performances at Zanies in Chicago and talked with him after the show about how he might help guide young people in their addiction recovery process by teaching them to channel their story and struggles into stand-up comedy. Brilliant.

That conversation prompted his 'Stand Up and Recovery' program at a Chicago rehab facility, which created some pretty amazing results.
