Admittedly, I have not been the most successful hunter in terms of time spent. But this year, it seems that many Michigan deer hunters are having an unsuccessful season. Whether it's the late breeding cycle of the does combined with an early November deluge of snow, or the unseasonably warm temps in December, something is making the hunting tough.

Even some of my friends that film television shows for the major outdoor networks have complained about the quality of deer hunting. The numbers have been there, but the behavioral patterns have been skewed for reasons only known to them.

So as January 1st approaches and the end of Michigan's whitetail season comes to a close, I can only look back and be glad that 2014 is over and pray for some decent ice on the lakes!
