before cable TV and the invention of the internet, we were limited to about 5 television channels that we could watch. One of the few that we could get in with the rotary antenna, was WJRT - TV 12 out of Flint. And each summer they would run the advertising for the Chesaning Showboat!

One week of the top artists performing at night, while they stayed in town for the week.Could you imagine that happening today? Of course not! With ticket prices and the cost of getting a mediocre talent through the roof already, a venue like this could not be possible. After years of sitting dormant due to bankruptcy, the Showboat was sold for $50 and demolished with only the platform to remain.
