Duran Goes To Prison

For most kids, especially girls, a sweet 16 party has to be a big deal. For mine, not so much. A trip to prison was a grand idea for her birthday!

Among other greater things, Jackson Michigan is known as the location for the first prison in Michigan. It also houses a newer version that houses offenders of various crimes. What you may not know is that is also has a cell block that is dedicated as a museum for the general public to walk through and see first hand.

I have to admit that it brought to mind many dark thought of what being incarcerated might be like. It also gave a full color view to those who are actually housed in the adjoining cell blocks through barred windows. chain link fence and razor wire. Long story short, I highly recommend the trip! It gives you a better idea how precious freedom is.
