Despite what you think about heading to the Irish countryside of County Clare, Ireland to fish, it's still work.

This week my Researcher/Producer and girlfriend Sara Marie and I, will embark on a journey to fish Lough (Loch) Derg in search of wild brown trout and pike on the fly. An amazing opportunity to record my other show "Wild Michigan" and bring back all of the information we can to encourage anglers to visit the "Jewel of the River Shannon."

You may be thinking, "how can this be work?" Well, let me explain. After an overnight flight to Shannon airport in Ireland, my good friend Eoin O'Hagan will be giving us a speed course on our itinerary that would make even Evelyn Wood's head spin! Then we're off to Lough Derg for some fly fishing for trout to be followed by a pint or two at Jacko's Bar We will at some point record the show with expert guests from all over our host community. The days to follow will be much of the same. Wake, fish, eat, drink, record and repeat. Such is the life of an American radio host.

All in all, this is by far one of the most humbling experiences that I have ever been privileged to be a part of. We will have much to show and share when we return. In the meantime, please check out this video from my brother Eoin and one of the many sights of Lough Derg in County Clare.
