Donald Trump has claimed his place as America's 45th president. Trump got through the Democrats' longstanding firewall, carrying Michigian, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, states that hadn't voted for a GOP presidential candidate since the 1980s. Hillary Clinton called to concede at around 2:30 this morning. 15,611 votes separated Trump and Clinton in Michigan.

Scott Wrigglesworth was elected to take over as Ingham County Sheriff, the seat long held by his father Gene Wrigglesworth, while Eaton County opted to stay with Tom Reich as their sheriff. Ingham County Prosecutor went to Carol Siemon. Voters here in Ingham County voted overwhelmingly to renew the Potter Park Zoo millage and voters in the city of Lansing voted to renew the special services millage as well as the emergency services tax. Lansing voter also voted to sell the Scott Center Building.

Michigan Republicans held on to the state House of Representatives, retaining GOP control of both the Michigan House and Senate.
