A Rally of Writers will be held on April 18, 2015. This annual one-day conference, in its 28th year, features a keynoter and 16 breakout sessions led by published Michigan authors in several genres of writing. Keynoter Jack Lessenberry is the senior political analyst who delivers daily essays and commentary on Michigan Radio and NPR. His book with former State Attorney General Frank Kelley will be released in the Fall. Jack’s keynote address is “How Writing Has Changed in the Age of the Internet and Online Publication. (Free; open to the public.)
Sessions will focus on the art and craft of novels, short stories, articles, poetry, and children’s writing. Speakers include Mardi Jo Link, whose memoir Bootstrapper was named a Michigan Notable Book; Dan Mishkin, creator of the comic book documentary The Warren Commission Report; internationally acclaimed author Lev Raphael, whose 25 books have been translated into a dozen languages; Monica McFawn, winner of the Flannery O’Connor Award for Short Fiction and a Michigan Notable Book; and Keith Taylor, who teaches creative writing at U of M, is director of the Bear River Writers’ Conference, and poetry editor of the Michigan Quarterly Review.
Speakers will sign books in Authors’ Alley. Books available onsite from Schuler Books.
