American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF) funds homeless animal awareness event.  Free family event to promote spaying, fostering and adopting dogs and cats.

Lansing, Mi. – On November 15, 2014 from 9 am to 3pm, the AVMF will be hosting Our Oath in Action to teach pet owners the importance of spaying and adopting animals in Hall A at the Lansing Center located at 333 East Michigan Ave., Lansing, Mi.

“Animals are a part of our life, but we are their entire life.  Teaching residents how to help decrease homeless animals through interactive activities for kids and adults is our goal because everyone deserves a home”, said Danielle Graziano, event coordinator.

At the event there will be a scavenger hunt with multiple activities ranging from jeopardy to simulating surgeries with spaghetti and water balloons.  There will be demonstrations of how to properly approach dogs, and lessons on reading dog and cat body language.

The event will also be hosting cats and dogs available for foster and adoption from the Ingham County Animal Shelter.  To play with the animals you must be 18 years of age or have an adult present.  Applications will be available to anyone eligible who wants to foster or adopt.

“Without people fostering and adopting animals, they would live and die without a real home.  This event is critical to the lives of animals in the Lansing area”, said Paige Schwartz, event manager.
