LANSING HOSTS ANNUAL
ASSOCIATION OF MICHIGAN BASKETMAKERS CONVENTION

Lansing , Michigan ,September, 2015 – Nearly 20 teachers and 200 students will gather at the Causeway Bay Hotel in Lansing , beginning Wednesday, Oct. 14 through Sunday, Oct. 18 to learn the art of basketmaking at the annual convention of the Association of Michigan Basketmakers (AMB).
Teachers from around the world will use contemporary and traditional materials and teach students techniques to create baskets of many forms and functions. More than 65 different classes will be offered.
The AMB is dedicated to promoting basketry through education, stimulating interest in all phases of basketry and promoting public enthusiasm for its value to the community. The Association was formed in 1981.
Interested community members are invited to attend Public Days at no cost on Friday, Oct. 16 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to observe baskets being made and to visit the exhibit room and vendors.
