Portland Strong Benefit Concert Set For August 9th

100% of proceeds to benefit Portland Disaster Relief Fund

The Portland Strong Benefit Concert will take place on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at the Portland High School Football Field. 100% of proceeds will go to the Portland Disaster Relief Fund to help rebuild the city after an EF-1 tornado ripped through Portland on June 22, 2015 causing an estimated $3.2 million dollars in damage.

Seventeen-year-old singer-songwriter Shelby Ann-Marie, an artist local to Portland, organized and will headline the benefit concert to help raise money for the Portland Disaster Relief Fund. The event is teaming up with the Portland Community Fund Association and many local sponsors to bring an afternoon filled with live music, food and fun. Shelby Ann-Marie appeared on American Idol Season 13 where she made it to the end of Hollywood Week and has opened for national country artists Craig Morgan, Chase Rice, The Band Perry and will open for Trace Adkins later this summer.

“Portland has always been home for me and this is where I found my passion for music. The afternoon of the tornado on June 22 and the days that followed made me realize even more so that this was much more than just a community, we were a family and we would get through this together.”  Shelby Ann-Marie continues, “I kept thinking there has to be something more I can do. Music is what I know and it has helped me through so many hard times, why not use it to help the place I call home and the people I consider family. So that’s how the Benefit Concert began to take form. Music is the way that I connect to people and I knew that through my music I could bring strength, comfort, and aid to those who needed it now more than ever and that’s exactly what we plan on doing.”

Also set to perform is Lansing based country duo Bear Creek Brothers. Three Men and a Tenor, best known for their dynamic vocal ability and a group that recently opened for Jay Leno, will perform as well as Max Boyle, Jamie Miller and Patrick Dawdy. Gates will open at 1:30pm with the music kicking off at 2:30pm.

Tickets are $15.00 for Track GA and $10.00 for Grandstand GA and are on sale now at various outlets in Portland including Fabiano’s River House Grill, Independent Bank, Portland Federal Credit Union and more. Tickets will be available at the gate based on availability. For a full list of ticket locations visit shelbyannmarie.com
