Fiat Chrysler is reportedly telling owners of its vehicles to not use the cruise control.

WILX.com reports that the automaker is getting reports of its vehicles' cruise controls not disengaging for drivers. According to the report, owners should not use their cruise control before a software update has been performed.

FCA is recalling some 5.3 million vehicles because of the possible defect. Company officials say that if the cruise control accelerates at the same time as an electrical short, it is possible that drivers will not be able to disengage the cruise control, unless they shift into park.

The automaker found the problem while testing its vehicles' computer network. No injuries or crashes have been  reported because of the flaw. There is, however, one scary story reported by the driver of a rental vehicle that experienced this malfunction.
