WILX.com is reporting that an apartment fire near Winans Elementary School, in the Waverly Community Schools District is making afternoon busing of students a challenge.

High winds are giving Delta Township fire officials a bigger challenge putting out flames at a 12-unit apartment building on Parkwest Drive, according to another report from WLNS.com. This report states that some residents were initially trapped on upper levels, but rescued without injury.

As far as the busing situation at Winans Elementary School, students that ride a bus will first be shipped to Waverly High School and bussed home from there. However, students that ride a bus living in the Parkwest Drive area, where the fire is at, will not be bussed, and will need to be picked up by parents. Those parents who typically pick up their students at Winans may do so as normal.
