The Detroit Free Press is one of many media outlets reporting on a fireball that lit up the sky in the Midwest early Monday morning. Eyewitness reports have come from more than 200 people in Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Iowa, Ohio, Kentucky, Ontario and New York to the American Meteor Society. Given that reports from Michigan, Ohio, and New York reported the greenish-colored fireball in the western sky, and that reports and dash-cam footage from Wisconsin and Illinois show the object in the eastern sky, AMS officials believe that the space object landed somewhere in northern Lake Michigan. The Detroit Free Press article specifies the location of impact as west of Crystal Lake.
