WLNS.com reports that the flatbed driver responsible for running an over-height load into a bridge overpass on I-96 has been cited for careless driving and charged with operating an over-height vehicle.

The accident in Brighton township last month forced the Michigan Department of Transportation to demolish the Pleasant Valley Road overpass over eastbound I-96 after the accident. This, in turn, forced the closure of I-96 for around 36 hours.

The driver is not being identified. The company the driver was hauling for will have its insurance company foot the bill for the emergency repairs, estimated at around $500,000.
