Michigan is among the 46 states in the union currently experiencing elevated outbreaks of 'the flu'.

Hospitals are reporting increased numbers of those seeking emergency room treatment for influenza.

MLive.com reports that the Kinross prison in the UP put the kibosh on visiting hours to prevent the spread of the bug from visitors to inmates and vise versa.

If you're experiencing high fever, chills, muscle aches and fatigue, you may have contracted a case of the ick for yourself. Doctors recommend getting plenty of rest, a lot of fluids (non-alcoholic, non-caffeinated) and STAY AWAY FROM OTHER PEOPLE. Generally the flu is contagious for about seven days and I DON'T WANT IT. And please cough into your elbow. And stay home when you're sick.

If you've managed to avoid getting the flu so far, keep WASHING YOUR HANDS and try not to touch your eyes, nose or mouth. And wash your hands. A lot.
