Forecasters Increase Severe Weather Chances For Lansing

According to an mlive.com report, forecasters at The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, OK have increased the chances for severe weather in Mid-Michigan Tuesday. Strong winds, heavy rain and some hail are all possible. The article seems a bit Chicken-Little-ish, but does note the possibility of a large, straight-line wind event developing, called a Derecho. These events are always worth keeping an extra eye on, as they tend to do widespread damage to areas that see them. The good news is that forecasters and meteorologists suggest this specific storm would likely reach Mid-Michigan very early in the day on Tuesday. Though the severe chances remain, they are not as great when the atmosphere doesn't have the element of midday heat and sunshine to add to its instability.
