Governor Snyder Signs Medical Pot Bill

Michigan's medical marijuana laws are a lot clearer now that Governor Rick Snyder has signed new regulations into law. WLNS.com reports that Snyder signed the bill into law on Wednesday, clearing up a lot of confusion to the 2008 state medical marihuana act.

The new laws take effect in 90 days and will track medical marijuana from seed to sale. Dispensaries are now clearly defined as legal by state law and will have new taxes imposed on them. Non-smokable forms of marijuana will become legal. A licensing system will be formed, and licenses will be required for growing, processing, selling, transporting, and testing marijuana. Municipalities will also have the ability to regulate locations and numbers of marijuana facilities.

The state will begin issuing the licenses in late 2017.
