This bag pictured below showed up in our mailbox yesterday, a reminder to round up some nonperishable food items to contribute to the Greater Lansing Food Bank. Many thanks to the National Association of Letter Carriers, who've been collecting donations to help feed our neighbors for many years now. THIS Saturday, May 13, 2017, is the day to set out your donation before your mail carrier shows up.

Apparently, the reason they collect the food in late spring is that's when most food banks across the country start running out of the donations that came in during the prior year's Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday season.

Suggested items to set out include beans, canned tuna, peanut butter, soup, canned fruit/veggies, packaged pasta, oatmeal and canned meats.

Thank you for your contributions, thanks to all the sponsors, and of course, thank you to the Letter Carriers who contribute to this huge effort to serve our community.
