The National Weather Service/NOAA has the full report here on the heat wave that's about to descend upon us and linger well into next week. Looks at this point like Independence Day Wednesday will be pretty steamy, too.

Today we'll have plenty of sunshine with temperatures hitting the mid 80s and higher humidity levels, then tomorrow through Sunday, the heat and humidity will be cranked to oppressive levels.

An Excessive Heat Warning has been issued for Lansing, Jackson and beyond for Friday through Sunday evening. Looks likehigh temps will be in the low 90s Friday, but it will more like 100-plus degrees at times.

Saturday, with sunny skies, high humidity and temperatures in the mid 90s, it will feel more like 100 degrees.

Hopefully you'll be able to limit your time spent outside and please be extra mindful of the little kids, the ill and elderly in your life, as this type of weather is especially challenging for them.

Here's a link to some area cooling centers if you don't have access to air conditioning - you can also call 211.
