Helio Castroneves should consider himself lucky.

Castroneves, 40, crashed his car during a practice for the Indianapolis 500 on Wednesday.

The three-time winner of the iconic race lost control of his car during Turn 1 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He then hit a wall and flipped end over end before rolling over.

No other cars were involved.

Amazingly, Castroneves was fine:

Castroneves managed to get himself out and was then taken in by medical officials.

The accident was the capper in what had already been a bad day for Castroneves. He was penalized eight points for making contact with driver Scott Dixon during a race last weekend.

The Indianapolis 500 will take place May 24. Castroneves is seeking to become only the race's fourth four-time winner.
