How Dick Became Short for Richard (VIDEO)

I always wondered why someone named Richard went by "Dick."
Seriously, it's hard to say Dick without laughing if you are like me and have the maturity of a 2 year-old. Some names I get. Trudy- Originates from Gertrude. Joe comes from Joseph. Topher Grace, Foreman on "That 70's Show" uses the last part of Christopher for his name. These things are easy to understand... How you get Dick out of Richard isn't...
