This picture broke my heart. As a kid, I used to run around there for a week every year. A lot of kids go to camp. We went to the fair. I remember when they tore down the dorms. I remember when they redesigned the campsites. Things are changing again.

They knocked down the old grandstands at the Ingham County Fairgrounds. It just wasn't safe anymore and couldn't pass inspection. Cost to repair were just too much.

My dad used to go to the Ingham County Fair. I can't imagine the childhood memories he made there. It stood since the 1930's and will hopefully be replaced by something bigger and better.

Here is the post from the Ingham County Fair:

"To everything there is a season......thank you to all who spent time in our grandstands throughout the years. In the pursuit of ensuring the continued safety of our community it is time to put to rest on of our most treasured landmarks on the fairgrounds!

Don't worry, we will have state-of-the-art bleachers in place for the 2016 Ingham County Fair and they actually are brand new and have a greater capacity than the grandstands.

In her place we have designs to erect a new 50,000 square foot Exposition Center with an attached 3,000 seat grandstands! More to come as we continue the pursuit of local business partnerships."

Change CAN be a good thing. Buildings don't last forever but memories do.
