Talking with a friend of mine today about the weather, he said he was reminiscing with some pals about the 'Great Blizzard of 1978' that hammered Michigan and the rest of the Great Lakes region on Wednesday January 25th through Friday 27th. They were recalling that the weather then was a lot like it has been around here recently, quite warm, some ice storms, a lot of rain, then BAM! 'The White Hurricane' struck, which killed at least 71 people here in Michigan and immobilized the entire region. Get more specifics on the storm here at Wikipedia and check out some of the great pics in the video above.
