Izzo Receives High Honor From Sports Writers

The well-deserved accolades for Michigan State Basketball Coach Tom Izzo just keep on coming. Earlier this year, Izzo was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. Now, WLNS.com reports that Izzo has been named as this year's recipient of the prestigious Dean Smith Award by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association.

USBWA awards the honor every year to the one person in college basketball that best demonstrates the spirit and values of Coach Dean Smith, the decades-long, late, legendary leader of North Carolina Basketball.

WLNS reports that Izzo's support of charities like Coaches Vs. Cancer and the V Foundation for Cancer Research as contributing factors and high graduation marks for former players, also.
