If you're staying in town this weekend, you'll have a variety of opportunities around Greater Lansing to honor the legions who've given their lives in our nation's service.  No, there won't be a parade in downtown Lansing, but there will be a procession and extended services at Evergreen Cemetery at 2600 East Mt. Hope (just east of Aurelius) Saturday May 25th, starting at noon.

The Lansing State Journal reports that you can still find a parade Saturday morning in Grand Ledge and Watertown Township; and Sunday you can take part in a historical walking tour in Eaton Rapids. Click here for more options.

Also, I really appreciated reading this Memorial Day perspective from retired Lansing State Journal columnist John Schneider in his daily blog - I think you might enjoy it, too.  Click here to read it.
