Lansing Area Restaurants Affected by COVID-19

Over the past few months, the Lansing area has seen many restaurant closures due to the corornavirus pandemic. Sad but true.

One of these restaurants is Finley's Grill & Smokehouse on West Saginaw Highway in Delhi Township. I can't tell you how many times my wife and I have dined at Finley's. Well known for great service and great food and now closed.

The West Saginaw Highway restaurant had been growing its catering business for the past five years, according to a post on the eatery's Facebook page in May that announced the restaurant's closure.

In late May, the owner of Fireside Grill said the Dimondale restaurant was on the verge of closure. The owner wasn't optimistic about its survival then.

The Lansing Road business didn't reopen in June when Governor Gretchen Whitmer relaxed dine in restrictions that had been in place since March. Fireside Grill closed permanently a few weeks ago.

And what about Cops Cafe & Bakery? The owners wrote in a Facebook post June 2, "we have made a tough decision to close permanently. We would like to thank our loyal customers for supporting us these last two years."

The eatery, at 6427 Centurion Drive just off Creyts Road, opened in May of 2018.

Frandor Deli is another restaurant that closed permanently in May. It had been at its location on North Clippert Street for 38 years.

Even Mijo's Diner, a North Grand River Avenue eatery that's been in business more than 20 years, announced it would close permanently in March shortly after dine in service was restricted.

Several restaurants now closed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Here's more from the Lansing State Journal.
