Lansing Mayor Andy Schor announced Friday that the City of Lansing will host a coat drive to help provide new and gently used winter coats, hats and gloves to children and adults in need in Lansing. The collection began this past Saturday, December 1st, and will run through the end of the day on Monday, December 10th.

“Winter can be challenging for many,” said Mayor Schor. “I am asking folks throughout Lansing and the region to help those who face these challenges by donating new or gently used winter coats, hats and gloves. We don’t want any person in the Greater Lansing community left without a winter coat.”

Each Fire Station will have a clean and labeled green CART recycling bin for donations. LFD’s drop- off hours are every day, 8:30AM-6PM.

CAHP will have a labeled box for donations, with drop-off hours M-F, 9AM-5PM.

The coat drive is a part of the new Serve Lansing Emergency Preparedness initiative. Serve Lansing, launched in September 2018, is a coordinated effort by the City of Lansing and its partners to support volunteers to address community issues.
