Storms are rolling into Mid-Michigan this afternoon. And, the closer they get, the better our chances get of seeing severe weather Monday night.

Mlive.com is reporting that the Storm Prediction Center has increased the chances of severe storms for Southwest Michigan, including Lansing. Some hail and high winds are possible for us, according to their story, while a threat for tornadoes exists west of us.

WLNS.com backs up this theory with predictions of strong winds of around 40 MPH and pea-sized hail. They also say that some isolated areas that see the strongest storms could see winds as high as 60 MPH and larger hail sizes.

The National Weather Service forecast for Lansing also calls for heavy rainfall with these storms, potentially three-quarters of an inch of precipitation and frequent lightning as these storms pass through.

Storms are expected to be in our area this evening between 8:00pm and 11:00pm. On the other side of the front, of course, are cooler temperatures for the rest of the week.
