For those of you who have been typing away on social media sites about Lansing's crime rate, you may want to stop your keystrokes long enough to read this. WLNS.com is reporting that the homicide rate in the city is the lowest it's been in a decade.

With only eight homicides reported in 2016, that matches the lowest number number in 10 years...2011 also saw eight murders. According to WLNS, to find a lower number, you have to go back to 2006 when six homicides were reported.

WLNS has a full review of the 2016 cases. One case remains unsolved, and Lansing Police are still asking the public for any information. See the full report here.
