WLNS.com reports that Lansing Police Sergeant Charles Funk has resigned his position with the department following an incident that has him facing misdemeanor charges. Funk is being charged after State Police found evidence that he did not yield to a man in a wheelchair. Funk had been on paid administrative leave since August 18.

Funk's trial is scheduled for November 15. His attorney has filed a motion to dismiss charges, saying the pedestrian ran his wheelchair into Funk's patrol car.
