In a gathering to honor 125 years of Lansing's Police Department, the Lansing Center held a grand event this past Saturday. Guest speakers included new Lansing Mayor Andy Schor, LPD Chief Mike Yankowski and many others.

The floors were filled with exhibits of both old and new, like the 1952 and 1976 police cruisers that once patrolled Lansing's city streets. The '76 Cutlass, built in Lansing, was a fond memory of when so many filled the streets.

K-9 demonstrations, bagpipers from the Glen Erin Pipe Band, and even the Capitol Precinct of Cops & Doughnuts were on hand to honor our men and women of Lansing's law enforcement, both current and retired. A special thanks to my friends at the Historical Society of Greater Lansing who put together some great displays including a photo from my personal collection.

All in all, it was a great turnout and opportunity for Lansing resident's to meet with the men and women who "protect and serve" the City of Lansing.
