According to the Lansing State Journal, a celebration is planned to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Chevrolet Camaro, now built at General Motors' Lansing Grand River Plant. City leaders made the announcement Thursday on a public event August 18 to be held on GM property at MLK Boulevard and Malcolm X Street. Visitors can enjoy a Camaro car show, an interactive display showing off the car's history, an opportunity for Q&A sessions with car engineers and designers, merchandise and food vendors.

According to a website set up by GM and Chevy, plant tours will also be available. The 50th Anniversary celebration is part of a big weekend for the Camaro. Friday, August 19, a Camaro rally will also be held in the Metro Detroit area, leading up to the Woodward Dream Cruise on August 20.
