According to wilx.com, legislation was unanimously approved by the state Senate this week that would allow Circuit Court judges more flexibility when it comes to determination of a restricted drivers license. Currently, the Secretary of State sets strict guidelines in order for people with suspended or revoked licenses to obtain restricted privileges.

The bill was introduced in an effort to assist those who have lost normal privileges to stay employed or to find work. These folks could be eligible for restricted driving privileges if they install an ignition interlock device in their vehicle, which will not allow a car to be started if the driver has alcohol in their system.

Because the bill has already passed the house, it should make its way to Governor Rick Snyder's desk in the near future for his approval and signature.
