Left for work about an hour earlier than usual this morning. The typical 10-12 minute commute took almost a half hour at speeds of about 25 mph. The worst spot encountered was westbound Mt. Hope just west of Hagadorn, which is flanked by wide open field; the wind had swept plenty of snow onto the road and there was a moment of "oh no...", but my trusty little car powered through it. Much appreciation to the crews out there plowing the roads and parking lots!

Someone else did beat me here, but I've yet to encounter them in the building...

Of course area schools are wisely closed today. Sounds like non-essential state of Michigan workers, in counties still under a winter storm warning, are not to report to work today; they were released early yesterday. WILX TV 10 has more details here.

Safe travels to you if you're heading out today.
