MLive.com reports that Warren Mayor Jim Fouts made a special proclamation today to honor Didarul Sarder, who ran to help when his coworkers at General Motors Technical Center in Warren called the parking valet supervisor to action. Sarder is credited with saving the life of a 52 year old Stephanie Kerr, who was being stabbed by her 32 year old daughter.

Sarder says he used his firearm training to react to the situation, which was quickly resolved when he pulled his gun and ordered the attacker to stop.

As you might imagine, there was a lot of back and forth about Sarder, who works for a company contracted by GM; he was fired for violating a 'gun-free' policy, he was rehired and back and forth. Looks like he'll be back at the Tech Center again.

Kudos to Mayor Fouts who was quick to stand beside Sarder. An area jewelry store owner also stepped in to award Sarder a $1000.00 gift certificate to use at his business. Click the MLive.com story here to get all the details of how it wall unfolded.
