Meridian Twp. Police Investigating Newborn’s Death

Multiple media outlets have been reporting over the last two days of a disturbing story out of Meridian Township. 25-year-old Melissa Mitin is awaiting trial, accused of killing her newborn baby in December of 2013. Authorities say she placed the baby in a trash can after giving birth in a bathroom according to wlns.com. Mitin became pregnant again, while out on bail. According to this article at lsj.com, she told doctors that she gave birth to the child sometime prior to mid-December, but doesn't know where that child is. Now, Meridian Township Police are investigating whether there is any connection to Mitin and a dead newborn found today in Metro Detroit according to wilx.com. Mitin is currently in the Ingham County Jail, being held without bond.
