Michigan Consumers Energy Customers Targets Of Scam

According to a report from WILX.com, Consumers Energy has received hundreds of reports about a recent scamming attempt.

According to the story, customer reports came in droves last week. Now, the utility is warning all of its customers about the scam.

Consumers Energy says the scammers typically threaten to halt service to customers with outstanding bills unless an immediate payment is made. Often times, the scammers request payment with a pre-paid gift card or by way of an online money transfer.
