According to Money-Rates.com, Michigan jumped from number 32 on last year's list of places to make a living to the sixth spot on this year's list. They based rankings on cost of living, unemployment numbers, taxes, average pay and workplace injury/illness/fatalities. They attribute the rise in rank to the recent comeback of the auto industry.
