Surprisingly, there is no law in Michigan against pointing lasers at aircraft. Doing so is illegal according to federal law. But, state and local authorities in Michigan cannot arrest offenders...they can only report such instances to federal law enforcement officials.

WZZM.com is reporting that there are currently two bills that the Michigan House of Representatives are considering that would change the status quo.The bills call for felony charges for those who point lasers and similar beams at aircraft, punishable by up to 5 years in prison and $250,000 in fines.
