I had a buddy move up from Missouri in 9th grade. One of the first things we did was go to the ice cream shop to grab a Boston Cooler. He had never had one before and was blown away by the ginger ale. "What is this?" he asked. "Vernors", I said.

People from Michigan know all about Vernors but people from out of the state are clueless. When you were a kid and got sick, if you were from Michigan, more than likely your parents got you some Vernors. If you are new to Michigan, do yourself a favor and go grab a Vernors.

I have friends that work out of state who have their family ship them some just so they can taste home.

Vernors was created in Detroit back in 1866 and may be the oldest surviving soda in America. They also have a Vernors Slurpee at 7-Eleven. Now, if you can find a 7-Eleven, you can try one. Click here to find some more fun facts about Vernors.
