Coming off of a tough loss, Michigan State has to quickly pick up the pieces and get ready for what could easily be considered their toughest opponent yet. And that opponent is also coming off of a loss of their own.

Perhaps one of the storylines to come out of Saturday's game will be how each team is able to rebound after gut-punching losses. Typically the Spartans are very good at handling their business the week after a loss. The last time they lost two in a row (excluding the 2016 season) was 2012 against Iowa and Michigan.

A problem that has plagued Michigan State for a majority of the year is ball security. And coming off of a game where the Spartans fumbled three times and considering that Penn State is the best in the Big Ten at takeaways, MSU will have to be able to hold on to the football to have any chance in this game.

With their schedule still remaining Michigan State does control their own destiny. But this week and the next week in Columbus will be bigtime uphill climbs.
