More and more drivers are on the roads every year, and even though we make all of the cars in Michigan, we aren't the greatest drivers, but close to it. Teen parents you can be fairly happy about this news because according to data from Wallethub.com, Michigan is in the top 10 for states with the best teen drivers.

Wallethub got the data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Their data on teen drivers, aged 15- to 19-year-olds, made up only 7% of the population in 2013. Even though they were only a slim percentage of the population teens racked up 11% of all costs resulting from motor-vehicle injuries. This is all based on the number of teen driver fatalities, the average cost of car repairs, and the presence of impaired-driving laws.

Some of the good data to come from this is that Michigan is fairly inexpensive if you want to add a teen to your insurance. Michigan also finished at the top of states with where it is cheaper for car repairs.

There was some bad data though as Michigan was ranked near the bottom in Teen Driver DUIs, as well as in the middle with driving safety.  Here's some bad and good news, Michigan wasn't at the bottom in Teen Driver Fatalities, but near the middle, which still isn't that good. Next time you are driving with a teen or a teen driver just try and minimize distractions, put on a seat belt, and obey traffic laws and these numbers should be lower next year.
