WLNS.com reports that Michigan State University Police think they have been investigating a false report of sexual assault.

The initial call came into police in September at Spartan Village Apartments on campus. Because of the report, authorities issued a MSU Alert to users' mobile devices.

However, after investigating, police believe that an assault never occurred. They have given their findings to the Ingham County Prosecutor's Office for review of any possible charges.
